Over the past year we’ve had a number of weddings of members of staff here at KLUB KOKOS. Later last year Wayan ‘Buldog’ was married at a Hindu ceremony held in Singaraja (northern Bali), where we closed up for the day so that all the staff could attend. Then in January, Nyoman (alias Komang, or ‘Greg’) married with a Christian ceremony near Negara (western Bali). We were very sorry to lose another of our members of staff, Buldog’s younger sister, Iluh, when she was also married in a Hindu wedding ceremony in Singaraja at the end of May. However, we wish her all the best in her new married life. Congratulations also to Buldog, who has just become the father of a little boy.

Another wedding that many of you who have stayed with us at KLUB KOKOS may be interested in hearing about is that of our second-in-command cook and cake maker extraordinaire, Ketut Mariani, to our most favourite driver for hiring for our guests when they wish to tour around at all while staying with us. Ketut Partha is finally ‘taking the plunge’ sometime in mid-July we think, although he still hasn’t a fixed date yet, only “about three weeks before Galungan”. Of course this is very typically Balinese, as a consultation of the Balinese Calendar for a good day for the ceremony seems always to be done at the last minute. However we’ll keep you up to date with photos of this big event in our next newsletter. If you want to send any greetings/congratulations to Ketut (and Ketut) for their big day, please feel free to email me a message at cathy@klubkokos.com and I will pass it on to them. I know that Ketut Partha has made very special friendships with so many of you that have stayed with us over the past few years, as he takes pleasure in escorting you around his magical island.

Congratulations are also in order for one of our regular visitors to KLUB KOKOS, Richard Hausner, affectionately called Mr Garden Salad by all of us around the Ubud area. He has now been coming to Bali for many years for his holidays, and each time he’s come to stay with us at KLUB KOKOS since we opened he has endeavoured to stay in different bungalows here, although he has doubled up on a number of occasions. On his latest trip in May he finally completed the round of bungalows, staying in Bungalow 3. Here we celebrate the occasion with a farewell dinner and cake made by our kitchen staff for the celebration. As well as Krishna & Cathy, Kristi & Sari, the photo also features ‘Sammy’, our pet dog, a favourite with Mr Garden Salad, who always manages to save a few titbits of his meal for Sammy. We are looking forward to Richard’s next visit to KLUB KOKOS in September.
