Gunung Kawi

Rice field terracing

While you stay with us at KLUB KOKOS we endeavour to give you the best holiday that you can imagine on this beautiful and unique island. For some of our guests their ideal holiday is to put their feet up and relax with a good book on their verandah, or lounge by the pool. Others prefer to be out and about on a whole series of different adventures while they are here. More commonly our guests like a combination of the two. Whether this is your first trip to Bali, or you are a regular visitor to our part of the world, we can offer you a large variety of tours to see some of the things that make Bali so special. Each tour is individually tailored for your particular interests and requirements.

One of our drivers, Wayan For the newcomer to the Ubud area we usually suggest an introduction to the local region. After a hearty complimentary breakfast you are escorted by car to the Ubud Market in the center of town. Your driver/guide for the day will introduce you to some of the delicious tropical fruits that are in season while you can watch how the local population stock their kitchens each day. Maybe you haven't ever tried bargaining - now's your chance to start to learn this fine sport expected of people when they shop in the market place. Then a number of significant Hindu-Balinese destinations around this area will be visited, including Goa Gajah (Elephant Caves), Gunung Kawi and Tampaksiring (Holy Springs). Perhaps you can also arrange a stopover at your driver's home to see how a Balinese house compound is arranged. During the tour you will see some of the most spectacular rice-field terrace scenery that Bali has to offer. Coming home to KLUB KOKOS from the north, you will travel through a series of old-world villages until you reach us for a late lunch, greeted by a young coconut to quench your thirst, freshly picked from one of the numerous trees around here.

KlungkungBesakihOnce you have the taste for travel around the island, you may be ready to look further afield. We can arrange a number of different types of full-day tours for you while you are staying with us, but we generally suggest that you try to space these tours with a day of 'rest' in between, as travel around the small roads of Bali can be quite tiring.

A tour to Eastern Bali may include the following highlights:

  • Klungkung (original center for the old kings of Bali)
  • Goa Lawah (Bat Caves)
  • Tenganan (village of the original inhabitants of Bali)
  • Besakih (mother temple for the whole of Bali at the foot of Mt Agung, Bali's tallest mountain)
  • lunch at Kintamani, with stunning views overlooking Lake Batur, with the very active volcano Mt Batur in the background

MonkeysA day trip through Central Bali may include the following sights:

  • the famous temple at Tanah Lot, built on a rocky outcrop
  • the Water Garden Temple at Mengwi
  • the war memorial at Marga
  • Bali's largest Monkey Forest at Sangeh
  • lunch at the beautifully tranquil park at Bedugul
Or perhaps you would like to combine the two of these tours with an overnight stay at Lovina on the north coast. We can arrange your accommodation at a comfortable hotel on the beach at Lovina, where you can have an early morning start to catch a small boat (jukung) out to see the dolphins as they come closer to shore each morning. Or perhaps you would like to do a bit of snorkeling there before returning inland.

BedugulIndicative Cost for Eastern or Central Bali tours:
Rp. 420,000,- per car for each full day of touring.

A Shopping trip may be something else that you would like to include one day, depending on your interests. Bali's handicraft skills tend to be concentrated in particular areas, where knowledge is passed down from generation to generation. For example, if you wished to see silver jewelry being made, you would head for the village of Celuk, where many families have their own silver-smithing business. Or stone carving in the Batubulan village, wood carving in Mas, or the huge Art Market in Sukawati, where many bargains are available for the souvenir hunter. Or perhaps you would like to be taken down to one of the big department stores in Denpasar, the capital of Bali, where you can find great value in the purchase of many things, like business shirts or software for you computer back home. If you want a handmade leather jacket, you might like to take a trip to bustling Kuta to combine shopping with a trip to the beach.

Downhill Bicycle
Eco-Tour

Bike through quiet back roads

These are just a few possibilities open to you while you are staying with us at KLUB KOKOS. We will talk to you during your stay with us to see if you need any help with where you would like to go and what you would like to see. Then from your interests, and according to your energy levels, we can then suggest various places that you might like to visit. Once we have together mapped out a program for the day, we then provide a booklet outlining some of the highlights of the tour that you can use as a handy reference as you travel, as well as it being a good keepsake to take home with you. For each of these personally tailored tours you have your own air-conditioned car and driver, so the flexibility is yours to make changes along the way if you wish.

There are many other organised tours now available around Bali. Maybe you would like to go white water rafting one day, go on an elephant safari, or participate in a group bicycle tour of the island (downhill all the way - suitable for young and old).

We can help you book any of these tours if you so wish.

Or perhaps you would like to just hire your own transport and head off on your own somewhere. If you wish to drive yourself you should have an International Driver's License before you come to Bali. We can assist you to hire either a car or motorbike to see the sights. For the more energetic we can arrange the hire of mountain bikes for you to explore the more remote areas.

Ridge walk along the path from Klub Kokos to Ubud
Then there are also so many interesting paths to take around here on foot. Being 'Far From the Madding Crowd', the roads around KLUB KOKOS are not crowded with vehicles to make walking difficult. You can really soak in the peace and tranquility of the rural scene in Bali just wandering down the roads, through the rice fields, or making your way down the little goat paths to the river. Just talk to a member of the KLUB KOKOS staff to point you off on a new adventure each day.

Legong dancer

Kecak (Monkey) dance

Because KLUB KOKOS is only a short walk away from Ubud, the bustling cultural heart of Bali, a great selection of traditional Balinese dance performances are available on any day of the week. Two of the 'must see' performances we recommend for visitors are:

  • the Legong Dance, displaying the vivid colour and classical beauty of dance in Bali, and
  • the Kecak Fire & Trance Dance, a dynamic and powerful performance accompanied by a chorus of male voices rather than the gamelan orchestra.

Most dance performances are held in the evening here, so that our guests can enjoy a cool evening walk across the ridge back to KLUB KOKOS after the performance. Or if you prefer, we can organize a car to escort you.

Indicative cost of transport to or from Ubud:
Rp. 50,000,- per car each way
Current ticket price for performances:
Up to Rp. 80,000,-
